Great looks, easy to install ....

I bought this enclosure for my 400GB SATA drive and it fits great and works great. Nice sleek, glossy design makes it stand out !! the installation is soo easy and the user manual is well documentated for 1st timers.
it doesnt make any noise (well depends on ur HDD), the enclosure does a good job in dissipating the heat out, so no need for a fan !!
One minor improvement is I wish there is some kinda clip which joins the casing and the front silver opening through which the HDD is fitted inside. So, when we fittign is done, we have to push the silver side towards the enclosure, which needs some pressure and there could be a tiny gap if enough pressure is not applied.
Overall, great product.. Highly recommended. |
A perfect hard-drive enclosure!

This is an excellent product, with a first-class design, both in its operation and in its classy appearance. It has a very small footprint in the vertical position. I have it sitting on a 1/2 inch styrofoam pad, which I do as a matter of course with drives of this sort in order to lessen any vibration effects. However, there are none at all; it is impossible, either by sound or feel, to detect that the drive is running.
It was very easy to install a 500gb Seagate Barracuda SATA drive, which of course required formatting before use. After formatting, the drive worked as expected, with no fussing or fiddling. Most important, the fan-less aluminum enclosure runs very cool. The warmest surface temperature which I measure using a laser spot thermometer (in an ambient surrounding of 75 degrees F) is 95 degrees F.
All pros and no cons!!

Solid Case, Simple Use
|

In the past I've used numerous external hard drives, so when I had an extra SATA drive, the idea of sticking it into an external case as a swappable drive seemed sensible. My experience with this case has been much more pleasant than my experience with a Western Digital case, both in terms of a more solid feel and easier swap-ability (the drive actually stops when you stop it, making it simple to turn off). The case is surprisingly solid and it works as well as I could hope on USB (I have not used the eSATA connection).
One note - don't expect instant plug and play the first time you connect a new hard drive to your computer via this enclosure. An external hard drive that comes pre-formatted may be a better choice if the prospect of formatting a hard drive terrifies you. |
Nice Little Case

I purchased this case and a very quiet 1TB Seagate drive & couldn't be happier, it is nice looking and combined with the HDD, provides a fairly pleasing looking external storage solution that can be shuttled between PC's.
It takes just a minute to install the drive into the case & make the inside connections. Once the case is connected to your PC with either the included usb or sata cable, you can format the drive and be up and running in no time, and no need to use the included drivers disk on Win XP or Vista either because windows will set it up. The case has one outside blue light on the front edge where the Vantec logo is that isn't too bright to be distracting. The aluminum case keeps things cool by behaving like a heatsink, and after a week I am experiencing no heat troubles at all (use the little stand). I am using the drive to store my iTunes library & other media files, movies etc. I am very happy with this case and have no complaints!! |
Using 24-7 with Cox Cable DVR

| I bought this to hook up a SATA drive to Cox Cable, Scientific Atlanta brand, DVR (digital video recorder), So far so good. Quiet, it's been running about a week Seems cooler than USB externals I used. I'll be back with an update if there is a problem. I'm buying my second one today for another DVR. Terabyte WD drive and this enclosure ... $150 total. |
