Amazing!

I've been reading some good reviews about Cavalry lately, so I decided to give this a try. Turns out it was one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. My old external hard drive had a loud, annoying fan, but this drive is incredibly quiet. The black case is really nice, and the LED logo on the front looks great.
I backed up all my files and I still have tons of room. 1TB for this price is an amazing deal. Bare drives cost more than this! |
A Great 1 TB Drive at an Excellent Price

I had never heard of Cavalry hard drives, but I read several positive reviews here on Amazon and decided to go with this one. I have not been disappointed. Here are some observations I've made on the unit:
Positive Aspects:
-----------------
- The drive looks very sharp.
- It has a good sturdy metal case and can be side mounted on a enclosed stand, or sit on 4 small rubber feet on the bottom of the unit.
- The drive has a power switch on the back of it (something a lot of USB drives do not have, for some curious reason)
- The front of the unit lights up to let you know when the drive is on, and when data transfer is taking place.
- The power adapter has a narrow shape that will fit in a surge protector and only take up the space of one plug.
- This drive is extremely quiet. Quite a few similar drives I have used are quite noisy. This one hardly makes any noise at all.
- Data transfer rate is quite good. I have been very pleased.
Negative Aspects:
-----------------
- I honestly have nothing negative to say about this unit in any way.
I would recommend this drive to anyone that needs extra storage space. I am using it in conjunction with Acronis True Image to do a full backup of my entire computer on a regular basis.

| I've had this drive for a week now. No problems. Hell of a price. I just plugged it in and it worked. |
Works great and very quiet

Worked right out of the box, no problems. I've had other external USB drives, but I was running out of space and it was a pain to have too many drives around.
I copied over files and photos and videos and I still have so much space left. It's wonderful.
I know I should have thought about this before, but I now need to figure out what to do to encrypt the data on this drive. I don't see that it comes with anything that allows me to do that. Seems scary to have all this data available, open and visible on the drive. I suppose I never worried about it on my smaller external drives because I mostly backed up photos that I didn't want to lose. But, now I've got EVERYTHING backed up. I better start looking for an encryption program.
I took some photos of the drive so that the size can be viewed. I'm not a great photographer, but hopefully they give an idea of how small and sleek it is.
I'll be getting another 1 TB external drive so I'll have two backups of all the computers. Seem like overkill? Maybe. But, that way I wont likely lose any data to a drive failure. With the prices so low on these now, it's worth it to me. It's especially important because I am responsible for more than just my computers in the family. It's hard to be the family 'computer nerd' sometimes! But, these large and very inexpensive drives help a lot. |
Great Product!

| I've been using this External for over a month now with absolutely no problems at all. Out of the box, I plugged it in to my Vista OS laptop, and it was ready to use. I have now filled over 50%. Although not a true TB(a true TB is 1024GB), it is 1000 GB with 980 something GB of useable space. I have never felt it get more that slightly warm and is completely silent. I have already recommended this External to friends. |
